Mothership Playlist

This is a reminder from Marilyn: When going to venues to listen to music, make sure that you buy drinks and food from the venue. They're supplying you music and a good time and can't make money if you don't buy food and drinks. That could make the venue have to close down or not have music. So remember, help support your venues, which support the bands, and the people. Let's not have them closed down from lack of common sense to purchase food and drinks when you're there! Thank you.

Mr. Hat Presents...
Funk Night in Sugartown!
• Litty deBungus
• Knuf
Litty deBungus is a 6+ piece Funk ensemble from Oakland, CA - first formed in 2018. Litty D inspires people of all kinds to move their bodies and their minds. With bass-driven rhythms, powerful horn section, searing guitar solos, and soulful vocals - the party never stops!
Not far from where gold was first discovered in the Sierra Foothills, a band calling itself Knuf has emerged with similarly auspicious tidings. When this quartet hits the stage, they attack each moment with laser-focused intensity. Their influences from jambands like Phish and Grateful Dead are evident, yet they are committed to applying their own strokes to the canvas. Everything is funky as can be with a vibrant coat of creativity bringing it into the fourth dimension.
There is no shortage of bands that can jam, but Knuf sets itself apart with a remarkable vocal presence led by guitarist Matt Gillies. The man is oozing with soul and swagger. He can suddenly shift into Motown mode and leave you with your jaw on the floor. They also have a solid foundation of original material sprinkled amidst the fantastic array of covers. Tasty improv jams are led by liquid guitar, saxophone and propelled by a forceful rhythm section. If only dancing was always this easy.

Mr. Hat Presents..
Jamband Night at Toot's: Battle of the Shredders
• Shaky Feelin
• Love Mischief
It's a Jamband Bash at Toot's featuring SoCal superstars Shaky Feelin' comin up to make some new fans in the Bay. Hosting them will be NorCal rising Jamband stars Love Mischief. This will be a shredder summit!
Shaky Feelin’, A high energy jam band from Ventura, CA mixing the elements of rock, reggae, bluegrass and funk to create one of the most memorable live shows you’ll ever see! They draw inspiration from bands like Phish, the Grateful Dead, Sublime, the Disco Biscuits, and The Beatles, then deliver an evening of music that can only be described as the Shaky Feelin’ sound. The group consists of Mark Masson (guitar & vocals), Jeff Hiller (bass guitar), Paul Menchaca (drums & vocals), Cameron Probe (drums & percussion) and Franklin Murphy (keys & vocals). The creativity of the band allows for amazing song writing with a “let’s never play it the same way twice” attitude. With no fear of improvisational experimentation on stage, true communication, and strong musicianship this band has the ability to create powerful music that leaves a lasting impression. Shaky Feelin’ shows are a positive high-energy journey that quickly gets people to their feet, and leaves everyone filled with music, joy, and that… Shaky Feelin’!
LOVE MISCHIEF, Mr. Hat's favorite NorCal jamband on the rise, will host the evening. One of Northern California's freshest new Jambands, Love Mischief is a group of musicians with a united purpose: To pursue a sonic adventure through many musical landscapes in order to open hearts and minds. Founded by Brian Curtin in 2013, Love Mischief's line up consists of Curtin on Guitar and Vocals, Dom Salazar-Turner on Bass, and Gabe Carpenter on Drums and Vocals. The trio format has helped them refine their sound to a clean, tight presentation of the songs, while allowing lots of space for exploratory improvising.
Love Mischief has shared the stage with many amazing musical acts over the years, including: The Mike Dillon Band, Skerik's Bandalabra, Jerry's Middle Finger, and The Higgs. Their genre bending performances include forays into many distinct sounds; Love Mischief seamlessly weaves Funk, Psychedelic Rock, Jazz Fusion, and even Progressive Metal, with free-wheeling Jamband improvisation as the common thread. Love Mischief is excited to explore the world of Jamband music to it's outer edges and beyond!

Michelle has toured from the East Coast to Los Angeles since 2015 before landing in California out of demand in 2018 after the release of her single, “My California”. This Berklee Grad is an electric performer, prolific songwriter, vocal powerhouse and violinist extraordinaire. To quote Soundwaves TV “Michelle dominates every inch of the stage before wielding her violin in classic rock goddess mode. Michelle Lambert is a genre-defying 21st century talent with a lot on her mind!”. She brought an arena of 18,000 people to their feet with her talent at the NCAA Women’s Final 4 (Bridgestone Arena) and wowed a full house at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. Michelle’s single, Girl on Fire, received raves from radio stations and media outlets. Lambert wrote this song from her own story, it has vulnerability and never ending will power and spirit. This girl on fire is on her way to the top, don’t miss a chance to see her live!!!

Jazz Mafia's Grateful Brass are a brass band offering a spirited reinterpretation of the music of the Grateful Dead, featuring lead vocalist Erin Honeywell, led by Adam Theis (Bob Weir & The Wolf Brothers).
Jefferson Bergey (lead vocals, The Freestone Peaches) and Jules Leyhe will open with a set of Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead, and Jefferson will join Grateful Brass as a guest vocalist.
Grateful Brass reimagines the iconic music of the Grateful Dead with an instrumentation of brass, drums and vocals (no guitar!). The music digs deep into the Grateful Dead discography with creative re-imaginations infused with the ebullient spirit of New Orleans Second Line, trance-like grooves of Afrobeat, brass-driven energy of Balkan music, and energetic Afro-Cuban polyrhythms, all sitting on top of a heavy foundation of funk.
Grateful Brass is led by Adam Theis who is a current member of The Wolf Pack with Bob Weir & Wolf Bros and whose arrangements are featured in their live shows, as well as two Bob Weir albums.
Some of the finest musicians on the West Coast have joined Theis in creating this newest offshoot of the Bay Area music collective Jazz Mafia; many who have long collaborated with other artists in the Grateful Dead community like Mickey Hart, Joe Russo's Ain't Dead Yet, Peter Rowan, Reed Mathis, Jackie Greene, and Cold Blood.
Grateful Brass embraces the challenge of carrying on a 50+ year tradition of imagination, creativity, and groovy improvisatory adventures. This loving homage will make you fall in love with Grateful Dead's music all over again, or for the first time.

Vaxx Restrictions are voluntary on behalf of the venue, and, are not enforced by the State of California nor recommended by the Federal CDC. Vaccinations & boosters do not protect against Covid-19 infection, nor do these halt the spread. Afflictions caused by vaccinations include rashes and SADS, therefore, individual people voluntarily forego such afflictions and remain immune to Covid-19. However, venues can choose to exclude people who remain unvaccinated, despite doing so being unjustified, and, harms their business. Feel free to remind venues to stop being fearful of just another flu-like virus, and to accept all healthy people. Fuck Pfizer!

Why does Thee Mothership Connection mostly posts Bandcamp links?
When you purchase a song on Bandcamp to support your favorite artist, you typically pay about $1. The majority of this amount goes directly to the artist, with only 15% going to Bandcamp. To achieve a similar level of support on Spotify, you would need to listen to a song approximately hundreds of times just to gift them that dollar. Keeping these figures in mind, it's worth considering the impact of your support the next time you come across a new favorite song. Have a great day
